Let \(\Psi\) denotes the Borcherds lift of type \((2,2)\). It is a well-known formula that the difference of singular moduli \(j(z_1)-j(z_2)\) of the elliptic modular \(j\)-function is expressed in terms of the Borcherds lift as \(\Psi(z, j-744)\). The paper under review extends this result to Hauptmodul \(\pi_N(\tau)\) for a genus zero group \(\Gamma_0(N)\) for \(N\geq 2\). The first main result is formulated in the following: Theorem. \(\tau_N(z_1)-\pi_N(z_2)\) is a Borcherds lift \(\Psi(z, F_N)\) of type \((2,2)\) for some weakly holomorphic modular function \(F_N\) for the Weil representation of \(\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})\). There is an explicit monster denominator type formula for the difference \(\pi_N(z_1)-\pi_N(z_2)\). \smallskip The second main result is a Gross-Zagier type CM value formula for \(\pi_p(\tau)\) for a Hauptmodul \(\pi_p(\tau)\) for \(\Gamma_0(p)\) with \(p\in\{3,5,7,13\}\), and CM points \(\tau\) in some imaginary quadratic fields over \(\mathbb{Q}\).
