    The paper under review deals with the Bishop-Phelps-Bolloás property (BPBp) for positive operators between Banach lattices, a notion inspired by the notion of BPBp for operators between Banach spaces introduced in [\textit{M. D. Acosta} et al., J. Funct. Anal. 254, No. 11, 2780--2799 (2008; Zbl 1152.46006)]. A pair of Banach spaces \((X,Y)\) is said to have the Bishop-Phelps-Bolloás property (BPBp) for operators if for every \(\varepsilon>0\) and for every \(T\in \mathcal{B}(X,Y)\) with \(\|T\|=1\), there exists \(\eta(\varepsilon)>0\) such that if \(x_0\in S_X\) satisfies \(\|T(x_0)\|>1-\eta(\varepsilon)\), then there exist \(S\in \mathcal{B}(X,Y)\) with \(\|S\|=1\) and \(x\in S_X\) such that \[ \|Sx\|=1,\ \|x-x_0\|<\varepsilon,\ \|T-S\|<\varepsilon. \] Two main results proved in this paper are as follows: \begin{itemize} \item Given any locally compact Hausdorff topological space \(L\) and given any uniformly monotone Banach lattice \(Y\) with a weak unit, the pair \((C_0(L),Y)\) possesses the Bishop-Phelps-Bolloás property for positive operators. \item For every strictly monotone Banach lattice \(Y\) and for every locally compact Hausdorff topological space \(L\) with at least two elements, if the pair \((C_0(L),Y)\) has the BPBp for positive operators, then \(Y\) is uniformly monotone. \end{itemize}
