The authors of this article consider time-harmonic elastic scattering using one single plane wave in two dimensions. They show that it is possible to recover an arbitrary convex polygonal scatterer from the knowledge of a single far-field pattern using the factorization method. This one-wave sampling method works both for the compressional and the shear part of the far-field. Moreover, the authors give explicit expressions of the spectral data for the elastic far-field operators for rigid disks and verify the one-wave factorization method using testing disks. Finally, they describe a possible imaging scheme using such testing disks.
