Several generalized metric properties of the hyperspace \((CL(X),\mathbb{V})\) of closed subsets of a topological space \(X\) equipped with the Vietoris topology are investigated and a number of interesting results is obtained. It is proved that the following properties are equivalent for the space \((CL(X),\mathbb{V})\): (1) quasi-developability, (2) semi-stratifiability, (3) symmetrizability, (4) \(D_1\)-space property, and each of them is equivalent to \(X\) being a compact metrizable space. Characterizations of the first countability and the Fréchet-Urysohn and \(\gamma\)-space properties of \((CL(X),\mathbb{V})\) are given. The tightness of the space \((CL(X),\mathbb{V})\) is equal to the set-tightmess of \(X\). In particular, some properties of the hyperspace of the countable discrete space are discussed, and it is shown that this hyperspace contains closed copies of all finite powers of the Sorgenfrey line.
