The author wants to determine the Betti numbers of edge rings with \(2\)-linear resolution. But the author wants to do that by looking at the edge ring as a Stanley-Reisner ring. For a simplicial complex \(\delta\) on \([n]={1,\dots, n}\) and a field \(k\), the Stanley-Reisner ring \(K[\delta]\) is \(\frac{k[x_{1},\dots,x_{n}]}{I} \) where \(I\) is generated by the squarefree monomials \(x_{i_{1}}\dots x_{i_{n}}\) for which \({i_{1},\dots,i_{k} } \) does not belong to \(\delta\). Which Stanley-Reisner rings that are edge rings with \(2\)-linear resolution are known. Their associated complexes has had different names in the literature. The author calls them fat forests here. The author determines the Betti numbers of many fat forests and compare our result with what is known. The author also considers Betti numbers of Alexander duals of fat forests.
