The authors consider the excursion set \(\{\varphi\geq h\}\) of the Gaussian free field \(\varphi\) on \(\mathbb Z^d\), for \(d\geq 3\), above level \(h\neq h_*\), where \(h_*\) is the critical parameter for percolation of \(\{\varphi\geq h\}\). They give sharp bounds on the probability that the connected component of the origin is finite and has radius larger than \(N\). In dimension \(3\), the probability decays as \(\exp\big\{-\frac\pi6(h-h_*)^2\frac{N}{\log N}(1+o(1))\big\}\) as \(N\to\infty\). In dimensions \(d\geq 4\), the probability decays exponentially as \(N\to\infty\). Similar statements are proven for the truncated two-point function and the two-arms probability for annuli crossings at scale \(N\).
