The authors consider a particle in a tubular domain centered around a curve in a plane. Whereas the classical setting is known to have almost surely no bound states, non-relativistic quantum particles with Dirichelt boundary condition typically have bound states in the presence of curvature. The paper considers the same geometric setting for Dirac particles with infinite mass boundary condition. Again -- as in the non-relativistic quantum case -- the existence of bound states is shown for heavy particles. However, unlike in the non-relativistic case the effective Dirac operator is simply the free operator in the limit of thin tubes.
