In this article, the author describes the various activities for encouraging women to pursue a career in mathematics that she conducted at her university and beyond throughout the last decades. She emphazises the importance of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) for her commitment: ``AWM provided the anchor and resource to navigate my solo situation.
