For an arbitrary real constant \(a\) consider sequences (sufficiently close to) \((a \log n)\). The author studies the asymptotics of the corresponding empirical distributions modulo one with respect to the 1-Wasserstein or Kantorovich metric, \(d_{\mathbb{T}}\), as well as with respect to a discrepancy style metric, \(d_{\infty}\). As illustrated with an example in the introduction, the two main theorems (Theorem 3.1 and Theorem 4.3) suggest that using \(d_{\mathbb{T}}\) can provide more robust and insightful conclusions as usage of \(d_{\infty}\). In general, the article demonstrates a very delicate dependence of the asymptotics on the parameter \(a\) which nicely relates to classical results in uniform distribution theory [\textit{H. Niederreiter}, Indag. Math. 46, 315--327 (1984; Zbl 0549.10038); \textit{J. H. B. Kemperman}, Nieuw Arch. Wiskd., III. Ser. 21, 138--163 (1973; Zbl 0268.10038)].
