The authors considered the so called Gini volume which is based on the theory of the geometry of the zonotope considering an empirical distribution. So, nonparametric is the framework. The paper presents an extension of the proposal of \textit{G. Dosi} et al. [``Production theory: accounting for firm heterogeneity and technical change'', J. Ind. Econ. 64, No. 4, 875--907 (2016; \url{doi:10.1111/joie.12128})]. It is a multidimensional generalization Gini index. Theorem 4.13 provides results sustaining a reduction of the sample size and of the complexity of the computation. Examples illustrate how the theoretical results behave.
