The goal of this paper is to give an explicit formula for the discriminant of families of quadrinomials. More precisely, the author considers polynomials of type \(p(x)=x^n+ax^k+bx+c\), where \(k\in\{2,3,n-1\}\), \(a,b,c\in \mathbb{C}\), and computes the explicit value of \(\Delta(p)\) in terms of \(n\), \(a\), \(b\) and \(c\). The main tool used in the proof is the classical concept of the resultant of two polynomials, its algebraic properties, and its application to the discriminant. In doing so, the author is able to retrieve the results given in [\textit{S. Otake} and \textit{T. Shaska}, Contemp. Math. 724, 55--72 (2019; Zbl 1423.12011)], but with a more elementary proof. It also extends in some way the results given in [\textit{L. Jones}, Albanian J. Math. 14, 37--45 (2020; Zbl 1441.11268)] that considers only irreducible polynomials over \(\mathbb{Q}\) with integer coefficients.
