A random connection model (RCM) is a random graph whose vertices are given by a homogenous Poisson point process with density \(\lambda>0\) and in which the edges are independently drawn with probability \(\varphi\) depending on the locations of the two end points. The main goal of the paper is to study the asymptotic behavior of general functionals on the RCM for fixed parameters \(\lambda, \varphi\). In Theorem 1.1, the authors derive a central limit theorem for functionals \(f\) which are weakly stabilizing and which satisfy a particular moment condition. Importantly, this result implies central limit theorems for various interesting functionals such as subgraph counts, isomorphic component counts or the number of connected components. Furthermore, the authors derive central limit theorems for Betti numbers as well as for the size of the largest component.
