It is proved that a Minkowski plane is Euclidean if and only if at least one hyperbola (defined as the point set \(\mathcal{H}:=\{X : |d(F_1,X)-d(F_2,X)|=2a\}\) where \(a<d(F_1,F_2)/2\)) is a quadric (i.e. the zero set of an irreducible polynomial of degree two in two variables). For higher dimensional Minkowski geometries, a generalization of the theorem is also proved as well as a theorem about analyticity of Minkowski planes.
