For linear wave problems, such as the linear Maxwell equation, this paper gives an error analysis for the fully discrete discontinuous Galerkin method coupled with the Peaceman-Rachford time-splitting scheme, which is an alternating direction implicit (ADI) scheme. It shows that the scheme is spatially suboptimal to the DG scheme with central flux and is second-order accurate in time. Numerically, it has been seen that the DG scheme is optimal for some cases. According to the literature, numerically, the DG scheme with central flux can achieve the optimal convergence rate for the polynomial basis of even degree on regular meshes, and suboptimal for the odd degree case. Therefore, the results of this paper are ``optimal'' in the error analysis.
