Given a commutative monoid \((M,+)\) and a Hasudorff topological vector space \(Y\), the authors study the following set-valued functional equation: \[ F(x+y,z+w)+F(x+\sigma(y),z+\tau(w))=aF(x,z)+bF(y,w) \] where \(F:M\times M\to S\subseteq P_0(Y)\), \(P_0(Y)\) denotes the non-empty subsets of \(Y\), \(S\) is selected between one of the sets \(c(Y)\) (compact subsets), \(cc(Y)\) (compact convex subsets), \(ccl(Y)\) (convex closed subsets), \(bc(Y)\) (bounded convex subsets), \(bcl(Y)\) (bounded closed subsets), or \(bccl(Y)\) (bounded, closed and convex subsets), and \(\sigma,\tau:M\to M\) are involutions. In some cases, the authors show that the only solution of the equation is \(F(x,y)=\{0\}\). The main result of the paper states that, for \(S=c(Y)\), the solutions of the equation are the functions of the form \[ F(x,y)=A(x,y)+B \] where \(A:M\times M\to cc(Y)\) is additive single-valued and \(B\in cc(Y)\).
