The authors show that the generalized Ramanujan Nagell \(x^2+3m^2+1=(4m^2+1)^n\) has only two solutions, namely \((x,n)=(m,1)\) and \((8m^3+3m,3)\). The proof is based on classical results on fundamental solutions, in particular, Nagell's categorization of solutions of \(x^2-dy^2=c\), in terms of the fundamental solution of the Pell equation. The proof is neat, where the authors first write the equation in question as \(x^2-(4m^2+1)^n=-3m^2-1\), and then apply Nagell's categorization mentioned above, followed by some modular considerations to conclude the proof.
