Let \(R\) be a ring. Recall that an exact sequence \(0 \to A \to B \to C \to 0\) of left \(R\)-modules is said to be pure exact if for every finitely presented left \(R\)-module \(M\), the natural homomorphism \[ \mathrm{Hom}_{R}(M,B)\to\mathrm{Hom}_{R}(M,C) \] is surjective. It is called \textit{RD}-exact if the same holds when \(M\) is instead cyclically presented. If one considers injectivitiy with respect to such exact sequences, one gets the notions of pure-injective and \textit{RD}-injective modules. That is, a left \(R\)-module \(M\) is said to be pure-injective if it is injective with respect to all pure exact sequences. Similarly, it is called \textit{RD}-injective if it is injective with respect to all \textit{RD}-exact sequences. Having defined variations of injective modules, one can also consider variations of the \(V\)-rings of Villamayor [\textit{G. O. Michler} and \textit{O. E. Villamayor}, J. Algebra 25, 185--201 (1973; Zbl 0258.16023)]. Recall that a ring \(R\) is called a left \(V\)-ring if every simple left \(R\)-module is injective. Thus, a ring is called a left \(RDV\)-ring if each simple left \(R\)-module is \(RD\)-injective. The authors study these \(RDV\)-rings. They obtain some characterizations of \(RDV\)-rings and their relationship with other, related rings. They also extend some results obtained by the second author in [\textit{F. Couchot}, Commun. Algebra 34, No. 10, 3675--3689 (2006; Zbl 1113.16010)] to noncommutative rings.
