In this paper, the authors study a special case of multi-marginal optimal transport in two dimensions, with three marginals and Coulomb cost. Under the assumption that the marginal measure is radial, the problem can be reduced to an associated one-dimensional minimisation problem. Then, the authors investigate the passage from the Kantorovich problem to the Monge problem, i.e., existence of an optimal map which induces the optimal coupling. The main focus of the paper is a conjecture by Seidl concerning the structure of the optimal map in this setting; even though it is not true in full generality as shown by \textit{M. Colombo} and \textit{F. Stra} [Math. Models Methods Appl. Sci. 26, No. 6, 1025--1049 (2016; Zbl 1342.35278)], the authors prove a partial positive result. Furthermore, they introduce a new class of counterexamples to the Seidl conjecture.
