This paper gives support to a conjecture of \textit{A. Arvanitoyeorgos} and \textit{G. Kaimakamis} [J. Geom. Phys. 63, 99--106 (2013; Zbl 1255.53014)] that a nondegenerate hypersurface in a pseudo-Euclidean space, whose mean curvature vector \(\vec{H}\) satisfies \(\Delta \vec{H} = \lambda\vec{H}\), has constant mean curvature. In particular, the authors prove that a linear Weingarten hypersurface satisfying \(\Delta \vec{H} = \lambda\vec{H}\) has constant mean curvature if its shape operator is diagonalizable with less than seven distinct principle curvatures.
