The author studies the problem of existence of global families of symmetric periodic solutions for a generalized Sitnikov problem that bifurcate from the equilibrium \(z = 0\), by studying the linearized generalized Sitnikov problem at the equilibrium and using the theory to count zeros of solutions from the linearized equations.
