The article under review proves a special case of BAB conjecture. BAB conjecture says, all \(d\) dimensional Fano varieties with \(\epsilon\)-lc singularities form a bounded family. Once BAB conjecture is true, then for any \(d\)-dimensional Fano variety \(X\) with \(\epsilon\)-lc singularities, we naturally have an upper bound for its volume, that is, \((-K_X)^d\leq M(d, \epsilon)\), where \(M(d, \epsilon)\) is a positive number depending only on \(d, \epsilon\). This is a necessary condition for BAB conjecture and is named by `weak BAB conjecture' by the author. The main result in this paper gives a proof of weak BAB conjecture in dimension 3. That is to say, for any 3-dimensional Fano variety with \(\epsilon\)-lc singularities, there must be a positive number \(M(3, \epsilon)\) bounding the volume. It is worth mentioning that, the whole BAB conjecture has been soved by Birkar in his two papers: `Ant-pluricanonical systems on Fano varieties' and `singularities of linear systems and boundedness of Fano varieties'.
