The authors present asymptotic formulas for the sums \(\sum_{n_1,\ldots,n_k\le x} f((n_1,\ldots,n_k))\) and \(\sum_{n_1,\ldots,n_k\le x} f([n_1,\ldots,n_k])\), involving the gcd and lcm of the positive integers \(n_1,\ldots,n_k\), where \(f\) belongs to certain classes of additive arithmetic functions. In particular, they consider the generalized omega function \(\Omega_{\ell}(n)= \sum_{p^\nu \mid\mid n} \nu^{\ell}\) investigated by \textit{R. L. Duncan} [Am. Math. Mon. 69, 34--36 (1962; Zbl 0103.03202)] and \textit{M. Hassani} [Integers 18, Paper A23, 12 p. (2018; Zbl 1428.11169)], and the functions \(A(n)=\sum_{p^\nu \mid\mid n} \nu p\), \(A^*(n)= \sum_{p \mid n} p\), \(B(n)=A(n)-A^*(n)\) studied by \textit{K. Alladi} and \textit{P. Erdős} [Pac. J. Math. 71, 275--294 (1977; Zbl 0359.10038)]. As a key supporting result the authors utilize an inclusion-exclusion-type identity for additive functions.
