The Strominger-Yau-Zaslow picture predicts that Calabi-Yau metrics in the large complex structure limit is approximated by a semiflat metric over a real affine manifold with a real Monge-Ampère metric, subject to instanton corrections. Specializing to hyper-Kähler metrics, the analogue of the SYZ base is an affine special Kähler manifold, involving a flat torsion-free connection, a parallel symplectic form, and a complex structure with some compatibility conditions. Affine special Kähler metrics are often described in Darboux-type coordinates via a prepotential function. This setup has pseudo-Riemannian variants. With an additional integral lattice structure, a torus bundle over the affine special Kähler manifold can be endowed with a semiflat (pseudo) hyper-Kähler structure. The influential proposal of Gaiotto-Moore-Neitzke says that in order to obtain the instanton corrected hyper-Kähler metric, one needs the data of a variation of BPS structure, satisfying the Kontsevich-Soibelman wall crossing formula. One then solves a nonlinear integral equation/Riemann-Hilbert problem related to the Darboux coordinates on the twistor space, from which one reconstructs the hyper-Kähler metric. In this paper the authors impose the very strong condition of `mutually local' variation of BPS structures, which in particular means that there is no wall crossing for the BPS indices. In this case the integral equation reduces to integral formulas. The authors choose to bypass the twistor space approach, and work with a Gibbons-Hawking type perspective. Assuming the invertibility of a certain matrix valued function, they give a very explicit formula for the instanton corrected (pseudo)-hyper-Kähler structure, in terms of modified Bessel functions. This construction is local on the affine special Kähler manifold, and typically yields incomplete metrics, and can be viewed as a generalization of the Ooguri-Vafa metric. The authors also consider special Kähler metrics with an Euler vector field, accompanied by an \(S^1\)-action. They produce a hyperholomorphic circle bundle, and appeal to the HK-QK correspondence to produce quaternionic Kähler manifolds. This construction is then compared with the 1-loop corrected Ferrara-Sabharwal metric in the physics literature.
