Let \(S_g\) (resp. \(N_g\)) be the closed orientable (resp. non-orientable) surface of genus \(g\). Let \(\mathcal{M}(S_g)\) (resp. \(\mathcal{M}(N_g)\)) be the mapping class group of \(S_g\) (resp. \(N_g\)). Let \(\mathcal{T}(N_g)\) be the index \(2\) subgroup of \(\mathcal{M}(N_g)\) generated by Dehn twists. In the present paper, the authors prove that \(\mathcal{M}(N_g)\) and \(\mathcal{T}(N_g)\) are generated by three torsion elements for \(g \neq 4\). Furthermore, there exist three conjugate elements of order \(k\) in \(\mathcal{M}(N_g)\) that generate either \(\mathcal{M}(N_g)\) (when \(k\) is even) or \(\mathcal{T}(N_g)\) for large enough \(g\). An analogous result has been obtained by \textit{J. Lanier} [J. Algebra 511, 455--470 (2018; Zbl 1432.57046)] for closed orientable surfaces.
