This paper links the theory of self-similar sets with algebraic topology. This is a rather rare marriage; for other rarities, see among others: [\textit{J. Andres} and \textit{M. Väth}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 135, No. 2, 479--487 (2007; Zbl 1173.55001); \textit{V. Cutello} (ed.) et al., Applied and industrial mathematics in Italy II. Math. 385, Article ID 107771, 43 p. (2021; Zbl 1478.46072); \textit{T. Leinster}, ibid. 226, No. 4, 2935--3017 (2011; Zbl 1214.03049); \textit{H. Sumi}, ibid. 222, No. 3, 729--781 (2009; Zbl 1180.37054)]. Given a finite or compact subset \(X\) of \(\mathbb{R}^d\), one can associate with \(X\) the so-called persistence diagram and the persistence landscape. These concepts are defined by considering suitable (filtrations of) Čech complexes and (the homomorphisms between) the simplicial homologies ascribed to the complexes. Let \(\Psi\) be an iterated function system (IFS) consisting of several similitudes on \(\mathbb{R}^d\) with a common scaling factor (less than 1) and let \(A\) be an invariant set for \(\Psi\) that is well-separated by \(\Psi\) in an appropriate sense. Careful consideration of finite approximations to \(A\) allows for computing the persistence landscape of zero-dimensional persistent homology of \(A\), that is the ``connectivity structure'' of \(A\). This theory is illustrated by suitable examples on the real line and on the plane. Examples where the condition of well separation can be weakened set forth ways for further generalisation of the presented theorems.
