The article is devoted to left (or right) \(\mathbf{O}\)-modules and Clifford modules, where \(\mathbf{O}\) denotes the classical octonion (Cayley) algebra over the real field \(\mathbf{R}\). The considered modules also have structure of Hilbert spaces over \(\mathbf{R}\). They are isomorphic as real Hilbert spaces. The octonion algebra is the division algebra, but the Clifford algebra has divisors of zero. The authors do not distinguish different multiplications by their notation. Therefore there exist elements in left \(\mathbf{O}\)-modules which are independent over \(\mathbf{O}\), but dependent if considered as elements of the corresponding left module over the Clifford algebra. Considering left shift operators on these algebras they have not considered all identities, but have taken only some of them. For example, they have missed identities \((3.56)\) and \((3.57)\) in [\textit{R. D. Schafer}, An introduction to nonassociative algebras. New York etc.: Academic Press (1966; Zbl 0145.25601)]. Modules over \(\mathbf{O}\) satisfy the alternativity axiom. Modules over the Clifford algebra satisfy the associativity axiom [\textit{N. Bourbaki}, Éléments de mathématique. Algèbre. Chapitres 1 à 3. Reprint of the 1970 original. Berlin: Springer (2007; Zbl 1111.00001)]. There are also discrepancies in scalar products over \(\mathbf{O}\) and the Clifford algebra. This matter is also described in: [\textit{R. H. Bruck}, A survey of binary systems. Berlin-Göttingen-Heidelberg: Springer-Verlag (1958; Zbl 0081.01704)]. The paper under review has results contradicting the first Whitehead lemma and the Cartan-Jacobson Theorem 3.28 and Corollary 3.29 in [\textit{N. Bourbaki}, Éléments de mathématique. Algèbre. Chapitres 1 à 3. Reprint of the 1970 original. Berlin: Springer (2007; Zbl 1111.00001)]; also to theorems in [\textit{A. Krapez}, Publ. Inst. Math., Nouv. Sér. 30(44), 81--87 (1981; Zbl 0508.39013); Publ. Inst. Math., Nouv. Sér. 28(42), 105--112 (1980; Zbl 0503.20022)].
