    Let \(L_j(s)\) \((j=1,2)\) be \(L\)-functions in the modified Selberg class both defined in the right half plane \(\Re(s)>\alpha+1\). We raise their product to the complex power \((w_1,w_2)\in\mathbb C^2\setminus\{(0,0)\}\) as \[ L_1(s)^{w_1}L_2(s)^{w_2} =\sum_{n=1}^\infty\frac{g_{w_1,w_2}(n)}{n^s}\quad (\Re(s)>\alpha+1). \] Put \(v=w_1^2+w_2^2\) \((\Re v>0)\) and \[ h(n)=h_v(n)=\begin{cases}1 &(v=0)\\ \tilde g_{w_1,w_2}(n)&(v\ne 0)\end{cases} \] with \(\tilde g_{w_1,w_2}(n)\) the normalization of \(g_{w_1,w_2}(n)\). The integers \(1\le n\le x\) are classified into two classes, \(\{n_1\}\) and \(\{n_2\}\) by \(0<y\le x\): \(n_1\) indicates the integers all of whose prime factors \(>y\) while \(n_2\) indicates those which are free of prime divisors \(>y\). Then we have \[ H(x):=\sum_{n\le x}\tilde g_{w_1,w_2}(n) =\sum_{n_1n_2\le x}h(n_1)h(n_2) =\sum_{n_2\le x}h(n_2)S_{1,v}(x/n_2,y), \] where \[ S_{1,v}(x,y)=\sum_{n_1\le x}h_v(n_1). \] The first theorem the authors prove in this paper is an asymptotic formula of \(S_{1,v}(x,y)\). Putting \(\omega_v(X)\) to be the Dickman-like function, they show \[ S_{1,v}(x,y)=1+\frac{x\omega_v(X)}{\log y}-\frac{vy}{\log y}+(\text{error terms}) \] with \(X=\frac{\log x}{\log y}\), where the error terms are estimated in terms of \(x\), \(y\), and \((w_1,w_2)\). Consequently they obtain an estimate in the form \[ \sum_{n\le x}h(n)=\frac{e^{-\gamma v}x}{\Gamma(v+1)\log x} m(h,x)(\log y)^{o(v_1)} X^{o(v_1)} +\text{(error terms)} \] with \(\gamma\) the Euler constant and \[ m(h,x)=\prod_{p\le x}\left(1+\sum_{k=1}^\infty\frac{h(p^k)}{p^k}\right). \]
