      \textit{M. Miyauchi} [Math. Z. 289, No. 3--4, 1381--1408 (2018; Zbl 1408.22020)] described the \(L\) and \(\varepsilon\)-factors attached to generic representations of the unramified unitary group of rank three in terms of local newforms defined by a sequence of compact open subgroups \(\Gamma_n\). The authors refer to these \(\Gamma_n\) as Miyauchi subgroups. More precisely, let \(E/F\) be a quadratic unramified extension of non-Archimedean local fields of characteristic zero and let \(U\) be the corresponding rank \(3\) unitary group corresponding to the matrix \(\begin{pmatrix} 0 & 0 & 1 \\ 0 & 1 & 0 \\ 1 & 0 & 0 \end{pmatrix}\). If \(O, P\) denote the ring of integers and its maximal ideal, define \[ \Gamma_n = \bigg\{ g \in \begin{pmatrix} O & O & P^{-n} \\ P^n & 1+P^n & O \\ P^n & P^n & O \end{pmatrix} : \mathrm{det}(g) \in O^{\ast} \bigg\} \cap U. \] In this short note, the authors use the strategy mentioned by \textit{B. Roberts} and \textit{R. Schmidt} in their lecture notes on local newforms in \(\mathrm{GSp}_4\) [Local newforms for \(\text{GSp}(4)\). Berlin: Springer (2007; Zbl 1126.11027)], to prove that \[\mathrm{Vol}(\Gamma_n) = q_F^{-3n} (1+ q_F^{-3})^{-1},\] where \(q_F\) is the cardinality of the residue field of \(F\) and the volume is with respect to the Haar measure of \(U\) normalized so that \(\Gamma\) has unit volume.
