Let \(G\) be a finite group, a subgroup \(P < G\) is 2-minimal if there is a Sylow 2-subgroup \(S\) of \(G\) such that \(N_{G}(S)< P\) and \(N_{G}(S)\) is contained in a unique maximal subgroup of \(P\). In previous papers the authors classified the 2-minimal subgroups in general linear and unitary groups over finite fields of odd characteristic [J. Algebra 543, 1--53 (2020; Zbl 1445.20040)] and 2-minimal subgroups in finite symplectic groups defined over a field of odd characteristic [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 225, No. 9, Article ID 106643, 15 p. (2021; Zbl 1486.20019)]. The article under review is dedicated to explicit classification of all the 2-minimal subgroups of the finite general orthogonal groups, and certain of their subgroups.
