In the paper the authors consider random planar lattices whose laws are ``translation invariant modulo scaling'' in a specially defined sense, which is not necessarily translation invariant in the usual sense. The goal of the paper is to prove that simple random walks on certain random planar lattices have Brownian motion as a scaling limit. The main results of the paper are variants of the following: if a random embedded lattice is ergodic modulo scaling and satisfies an appropriate ``finite specific Dirichlet energy'' condition, then a simple random walk on embedded lattice scales to a Brownian motion modulo time parametrization in the quenched sense.
