This paper is concerned with uniform convergence in space and time of the scaled heights of deterministic growth models. The main result shows, for a very general class of growth processes, that the uniform limits are viscosity solutions to fully nonlinear degenerate parabolic partial differential equations under hyperbolic or parabolic scalings. These equations in general may be discontinuous in the gradient component. The authors also provide several examples including the hyperbolic scaling limits for two models related to the directed last-passage percolation as well as the parabolic scaling limits for the deterministic KPZ-type equations and zero temperature dynamics of gradient Gibbs measure.
