``Using an evolute of a meridian of the pseudo-sphere in the Euclidean and pseudo-Euclidean spaces,'' the author constructs a ``linear envelope'' of an asymptotic line on this surface. ``Using this envelope on pseudo-spheres with return edges, one can construct the point of intersection of the asymptotic line passing through a point arbitrarily chosen on the surface with the return edge of the surface.'' The Lobachevsky metric (for the Beltrami-Minding pseudo-sphere) or the de Sitter metric (for the pseudo-sphere with an indefinite metric) is introduced ``in the meridional plane of the surface.'' This highlights ``the evolute-evolvent relationship'' and ``allows one to define a mapping from asymptotic lines to evolutes of meridians in the conformally transformed metric.'' A pseudo-Euclidean analog of the pseudosphere, called the ``de Sitter-Shirokov butterfly,'' as well as the ``de Sitter-Shirokov funnel'', which is ``isometric to the factor-space of the ideal domain of the Lobachevsky plane with respect to the action of the discrete group \(Z\) of horocyclic rotations'', play a prominent role in this investigation.
