Let \(\mathbb{Z}_m\) be the additive group of residue classes modulo \(m\), and for positive integers \(m\) and \(n\) let \(s(m,n)\) denote the total number of subgroups of \(\mathbb{Z}_m\times\mathbb{Z}_n\). For any fixed integer \(k\geq 1\) let \[ S_k(x)=\sum_{1\leq m,n\leq x}s(m^k,n^k). \] The sum \(S_1(x)\) has been studied in [\textit{W. G. Nowak} et al., Int. J. Number Theory 10, 363--374 (2014; Zbl 1307.11098)]. In the paper under review, the authors continue studying \(S_k(x)\) for \(k\geq 2\). By using a multidimensional Perron formula and the complex integration method, they prove, for any fixed integer \(k\geq 2\), \[ S_k(x)=C_k x^{k+1}+O(x^{k+1/2+\varepsilon}), \] where \(C_k\) is an absolute constant and \(\varepsilon>0\) is arbitrary real.
