The authors consider an initial value problem for a semi-linear Volterra integro-differential equation of the first order defined in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) and with fading memory. Assuming that the initial data is small enough the global existence of solutions and their decay estimates are obtained. Furthermore, time decay estimates in a Sobolev space are provided. The proof is based on suitable pointwise decay estimates of the solutions in a Fourier space and on a fixed point-contraction mapping argument.
