For any path-connected space \(X\), let \(\Omega X\) denote the space of loops in \(X\). If \(X\) is simply connected, \textit{J. F. Adams} introduced the cobar construction \(F(C_{*}X)\) on the groups of singular chains \(C_{*}X\) and proved that \(H_{*}(\Omega X)\) is naturally isomorphic to \(H_{*}(F(C_{*}X))\), [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 42, 409--412 (1956; Zbl 0071.16404)]. \textit{M. Rivera} and \textit{M. Zeinalian} [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 18, No. 7, 3789--3820 (2018; Zbl 1423.18026)] extended this theorem to path-connected spaces. In the present work, the author gives a new proof of this extension in which the theory of cubical sets with connections no longer appears. The argument is obtained by relating the cobar construction and the fibrant simplicial groupoid introduced by \textit{J.-M. Cordier} [Cah. Topologie Géom. Différ. Catégoriques 23, 93--112 (1982; Zbl 0493.55009)] and called the homotopy coherent nerve functor.
