Recall that a cotorsion pair in an abelian category, or more concrete in a module category, is a pair \(({\mathcal X},{\mathcal Y})\) of classes objects such that \(\mathcal X\) is the left perpendicular class of \(\mathcal Y\) and \(\mathcal Y\) is the right perpendicular class of \(\mathcal X\) with respect to the \(\mathrm{Ext}^1(-,-)\) functor. This definition can be extended for a pair of ideals \(({\mathcal I}, {\mathcal J})\) of morphisms in the respective category. Let \(R\) be a \(k\)-algebra, where \(k\) is a commutative ring. The paper under review investigates how can we extend an ideal cotorsion pair in the category of modules over \(R\) to an ideal cotorsion pair in the category of modules over the \(k\)-algebra (called a one point extension of \(R\)): \[ R[P]=\left(\begin{array}{cc} k&P\\ 0&R\\ \end{array} \right), \] where \(P\) is a projective \(R\)-module.
