The authors prove two classification theorems for simply connected wandering domains of transcendental entire functions, one in terms of the contraction properties with respect to the hyperbolic metric (Theorems A and B), and the other in terms of the distance of orbits to the boundary of the wandering components (Theorem C). These two classifications combine to give nine different dynamical types of simply connected wandering domains. The authors show that all of the possible cases exist (Theorem E) by proving some existence criteria for wandering domains (Theorem D) and a new general technique to construct bounded simply connected wandering domains (Theorem 5.3). Furthermore, they show that under certain conditions the wandering domains have Jordan curve boundaries (Theorem 7.2).
