Let \(n\geq 3\) be an integer. The author shows that there exists a minimal surface of general type \(X_n\) such that \(K_{X_n}^2=16n\), \(p_g(X_n)=2n\), \(q(X_n)=1\), and \(|K_{X_n}|\) base point free with canonical map of degree \(8\). The image of \(X_n\) by \(|K_{X_n}|\) is a surface of degree \(2n\). There were examples of surfaces with canonical map of degree \(8\), but the image surface under the canonical map was of minimal degree.
