In this paper, the authors study the following Nicholson's blowflies model with an unbounded time-varying delay: \[ \dot{x}(t)=-ax(t)+bx(t-\tau(t))e^{-rx(t-\tau(t))} \] with the initial condition \(x(s)=\varphi(s)\) for \(s\in(-\infty,0]\), where \(\varphi\in C((-\infty,0],\mathbb{R}_{+})\) and \(\varphi> 0\). The main purpose of this paper is to study the \(\mu\)-stability of the positive equilibrium, which can unify some existing stability concepts such as exponential stability. Theorem 3.1 provides sufficient conditions such that the Nicholson's blowflies model above admits a unique nontrivial equilibrium. Next, Theorem 3.2 includes sufficient conditions such that the Nicholson's blowflies model above has a unique equilibrium \(E^{*}\) which is \(\mu\)-stable. In addition to these results, Corollary 3.3 gives sufficient conditions such that the Nicholson's blowflies model above admits a unique nontrivial equilibrium, which is exponentially stable. Corollary 3.4 presents sufficient conditions such that the Nicholson's blowflies model admits a unique nontrivial equilibrium, which is \(t^{\varepsilon}\)-stable for some \(\varepsilon> 0\). Finally, it is given a numerical example to show the effectiveness of the main results.
