The authors derives and proves some new estimates for the bound of the weighted Ostrowski-Grüss inequality using the concept of weighted Chebyshev functional and Diaz-Metcalf inequality. Applications of the results obtained are given which yield improvements of the results of \textit{A. Rafiq} and \textit{F. Zafar} [Nonlinear Funct. Anal. Appl. 12, No. 1, 75--85 (2007; Zbl 1134.26006)].
