Let \(f\) be a non-degenerate multivariate Laurent polynomial over a finite field, \(S^*_k(f)\), its toric exponential sum, where \(k \in \mathbb{N}\) and \(L^*(f, T)\) is the associated \(L\)-function of \(S^*_k(f)\). The Newton polygon can be used to study the \(p\)-adic valuations of roots or poles of \(L^*(f, T)\), which has a lower bound called the Hodge polygon and it depends only on the Newton polytope of \(f\). These two polygons coincide if the coefficients of \(f\) are not zeros of the certain Hasse polynomial. In this article, using the Dwork trace formula, a formula is found for the Hasse polynomial of the slope one side for a class of Laurent polynomials. In fact this generalizes the results of \textit{J. Zhang} and \textit{W. Feng} [Finite Fields Appl. 26, 7--31 (2014; Zbl 1285.11143)] and \textit{C. Chen} [Finite Fields Appl. 68, Article ID 101736, 19 p. (2020; Zbl 1456.11230)].
