    Let \[ \mathcal{P}=(\mathcal{P}_1, \ldots, \mathcal{P}_d): \, \mathbb {Z}^k \to \mathbb {Z}^d \] be a polynomial mapping, where \(\mathcal{P}_j : \mathbb {Z}^k \to \mathbb {Z}\) is a polynomial in \(k\) variables with integer coefficients such that \(\mathcal{P}_j (0)=0\). Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded convex open subset of \(\mathbb {R}^k\), \[ \Omega_t =\{x \in \mathbb {R}^k : t^{-1} x \in \Omega \}, \qquad t>0. \] The discrete averaging Radon operator is defined by the formula \[ M_t^{\mathcal{P}} f(x)= \frac{1}{| \Omega_t \cap \mathbb {Z}^k |}\, \sum\limits_{y\in \Omega_t \cap \mathbb {Z}^k} f(x- \mathcal{P}(y)), \qquad x \in \mathbb {Z}^d. \] The aim of the paper is to develop a bootstrap approach to prove maximal, oscillation, variational, and jump inequalities for this operator. The paper was motivated by the previous results of \textit{M. Mirek} et al. [Anal. PDE 13, No. 2, 527--558 (2020; Zbl 1437.42023)] for continuous Radon operators. An idea of the bootstrap approach originates in the work of \textit{A. Nagel} et al. [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 75, 1060--1062 (1978; Zbl 0391.42015)], where they studied the problem of differentiation in lacunary directions. A nice historical background is provided.
