The authors discuss fractional oscillation where the inertial and restoring force terms keep their usual expressions but the damping term involves a fractional derivative of Caputo type. In particular, the authors study the Kelvin-Voigt oscillator \[ \frac {d^2x}{dt^2}+2 \gamma \frac{d^{\alpha}x}{dt^{\alpha}}+\omega _0^2x=f(t), \] with \(x(0)=x_0\), \(\frac {dx(0)}{dt}=x_0\). Here, the order of the fractional derivative satisfies \(0< \alpha \leq 1\). Numerical examples for different orders of the fractional derivative are given. Also, extensive proofs of some properties of the Mittag-Lefflers functions are given.
