A \textit{fake quadric} is a minimal surface of general type with \(q=p_g=0\) and \(K^2=8\). They are divided into \textit{reducible} (i.e. free quotient of \(C_1 \times C_2\) by a finite group \(G\), where \(C_1\), \(C_2\) are compact Riemann surfaces), and \textit{irreducible} (i.e. the rest). Furthermore, the reducible ones are divided into \textit{mixed type} (i.e. there are elements in \(G\) which exchange the two factors), and \textit{unmixed type} (i.e. otherwise). The reducible fake quadrics of mixed type have been classified by \textit{I. C. Bauer} et al. [Pure Appl. Math. Q. 4, No. 2, 547--586 (2008; Zbl 1151.14027)], \textit{D. Frapporti} [Collect. Math. 64, No. 3, 293--311 (2013; Zbl 1303.14045)]: They form 5 irreducible components in the corresponding moduli space. Using the explicitness of their construction, the authors of this paper prove that these surfaces are Mori dream spaces, and that the effective, nef, and semi-ample cones coincide. The proof is a case by case analysis of certain \(G\)-invariant divisors.
