This paper focuses on the classification of integrable equations of order \(3\) that take the form \[ U_t=U_3+U_2f_2+U_1f_1+Uf_0, \] where \(U(t,x)\in \mathbb{R}^n\) is a vector for some \(n\), \[U_k=\frac{\partial^kU}{\partial x^k}\] is the \(k\)-th spatial derivative and \(f_k\) are scalar functions only depending on \(u_{[i,j]}=(U_i,U_j)\) for \(0\leq i\leq j\leq 2\). Up to a point transformation, the authors restrict the study to the case \[f_2=-3\frac{u_{[0,1]}}{u_{[0,0]}}.\] Using the symmetry method, the authors prove that integrable equations of this form belong to a specific and explicit list of equations, up to some point transformations. Some of the equations in the list are known to be exactly integrable, and all the listed equations admit at least a finite number of nontrivial conservation laws.
