In this paper multi-dimensional space-time fractional telegraph equations are considered. These equations appear in many models for real-world phenomena. Two hybrid techniques are presented to solve these problems: optimal homotopy analysis \(\mathbb{J}\)-transform method and variational iteration \(\mathbb{J}\)-transform method. The first method is developed using properties of a newly developed \(\mathbb{J}\)-transform to the optimal homotopy analysis method. The second method is based on variation iteration theory and the properties of the \(\mathbb{J}\)-transform. Both methods lead to stable solutions converging to the exact solutions. These properties are illustrated using five different test examples. The approximate results are expressed in the compact form of Mittag-Leffler function. From the numerical experiments it follows that the given methods are better than existing methods. In certain situation the first method is the best of both methods.
