Measuring coalgebras provide an enrichment of the category of algebras over a field over the category of coalgebras on the same field. In fact the universal measuring coalgebra provides an internal hom for the category of algebras enriched in coalgebras. This construction is still valid more generally in the realm of categories of monoids in a monoidal (closed) category. The authors study the relations between measuring coalgebras and homology theories. In Section 2, the authors study how a ``cocommutative'' measuring (that is, one defined on a cocommutative coalgebra) from an algebra A to an algebra B (over a field) induces a measuring between the corresponding Hochschild homology algebras. In Section 3 the authors consider measuring coalgebras between Lie algebras (as a certain linear map from an ordinary coalgebra to the space of linear maps between the Lie algebras, which is said to be cocommutative when the coalgebra is cocommutative). They show that a cocommutative measuring between Lie algebra induces a measuring between the respective universal enveloping algebras. More generally the authors then obtain similar results in the context of algebras over a linear operad. (In particular they prove the existence of a universal measuring between any algebras over a given linear operad from what they deduce an enrichment of the category of algebras for the given linear operad over the category of ordinary coalgebras.)
