This paper studies rational curves on Fano 3-fold. Let \(X\) be a smooth Fano \(3\)-fold and let \(\overline{\mathrm{Rat}}(X)\) be the union of components of \(\overline{M}_{0,0}(X)\) that generically parametrize stable maps with irreducible domain. One important question is to classify all components of \(\overline{\mathrm{Rat}}(X)\). The main result is that the number of components of \(\overline{\mathrm{Rat}}(X)\) parameterizing rational curves of anticanonical degree \(\leq d\) is bounded above by a polynomial \(P(d)\) in \(d\), which solves a conjecture of Batyrev. This is motivaed by the Geometric Manin's Conjecture, which predicts the growth rate of the dimension and number of components of \(\overline{\mathrm{Rat}}(X)\) parameterizing degree \(d\) curves as the degree \(d\) grows large. In order to count the components, the authors study two types of components: the accumulating components which do not contribute to the counting function, and the Manin components which do contribute. They use methods from the minimal model program to identify all accumulating components for Fano threefolds, and develop a so-called ``Movable Bend-and-Break'' theorem to count Manin compnenents.
