The book serves as a timely and relevant body of concepts and mathematical fundamentals behind the computer aided design (CAD) technology. Given the omnipresence of various and specialized CAD tools, it is of evident importance to provide the reader with the required formal background behind the functionalities of software packages. The material is organized in a systematic manner and offers a step-by-step systematic exposure to the useful pertinent mathematical fundamentals of algebra and geometry. Chapter 1 forms a prerequisite devoted to a generic material of linear and vector algebra including a series of topics such as coordinate systems, vectors and matrices, and inverses. Chapter 2 covers the mathematics of 2D objects (including points, lines, quadratic curves, higher-order algebraic curves). 3D objects are discussed in Chapter 3 by covering points, lines and planes, and simple solids (cylinders, cones, polyhedral, prisms and pyramids). Affine transformations are presented in Chapter 4. Each chapter comes with a collection of examples and a list of exercises, which help the reader gain a practical knowledge of the main topics discussed in consecutive chapters. The presentation of the material is formal, precise and convincing. Overall, the book is a useful reference and textbook material to a broad community users of CAD tools who wish to gain underlying mathematical knowledge
