The depth of a connected space \(X\) is a new invariant, constructed via its minimal Sullivan model \(\left(\Lambda V,d\right)\). In particular, \[ \text{depth}\left(\Lambda V,d\right):=\text{ least }p \text{ (or }\infty\text{) such that Ext}_{\left(\Lambda V,d_{1}\right)}^{p}\left( \mathbb{Q},\left( \Lambda V,d_{1}\right) \right) \neq0. \] Here, we denote by \(d_{1}\) the quadratic part of the differential \(d\). In the present paper, it is shown that the three notions of the invariant depth, defined in three distinct categories (minimal Sullivan algebras, augmented graded algebras and graded Lie algebras) all coincide in the case of a compact oriented Riemann surface and the classifying space of a right-angled Artin group. In particular, if \(X\) denotes one these spaces, the authors give precise formulas for the depth and show that \[\mathbb{Q}\left[ \pi_{1}\left( X\right) \right] =\text{ depth }L \] where \(L\) denotes the associated weighted Lie algebra of \(X\).
